We just purchased a camera during the Thanksgiving weekend. We chose a Nikkon D60. They have a whole box set at Costco, or at least they did. It comes with the longer lens also, the carrying case, DVDs to teach you, battery&charger...I can't remember what else but it was more bang for the buck when we looked at the same things at Best Buy. Good luck on your hunt!
Canon is really nice. We have a Nikon D40X (the precursor of the D60) and love it. It came with a 50-200mm lens, which was really nice, too. I don't think that you can go wrong with either camera.
I have the Nikon D60, too and I absolutely LOVE it. I highly recommend it...very worth the money.
